Temporary authorization holds
Temporary Authorization Holds with Lobon
When you request a trip, Lobon may need to verify your payment method by placing a temporary authorization hold with your bank.
This hold is applied to the payment method linked to your Lobon account.
The temporary amount is usually either:
-
The upfront fare you were quoted in the app, or
-
A small amount if you're adding a new payment method.
Why Does It Look Like I Was Charged Twice?
After your trip is completed, Lobon immediately cancels the authorization hold.
However, until your bank processes the cancellation, you may temporarily see two charges:
-
One for the authorization hold, and
-
One for the actual completed trip fare.
You are only charged once.
The hold will disappear from your account automatically after a few hours or days.
For example:
-
If you add a tip for your driver after the trip, you might see two amounts — the original fare (which will be voided) and the final fare with the tip (the actual charge).
-
If your trip was significantly longer than expected, the original upfront amount may show temporarily alongside the final, recalculated charge.
Why Is There an Authorization Hold After a Cancelled Trip?
When you request a trip — even if it’s later canceled by you or the driver — Lobon may issue an authorization hold based on the initial quoted fare.
If you place multiple trip requests and cancel them, you might see multiple temporary holds.
Each one will disappear automatically based on your bank’s timing.
How Long Before the Hold Disappears?
Lobon cancels authorization holds immediately once the trip (or cancellation) is complete.
However, depending on your bank, it can take 3–5 business days — and sometimes up to 1–2 weeks — for the hold to be removed from your statement.
Lobon cannot expedite this process.
We recommend contacting your bank for more details if needed.
Why Did I Get a Notification From My Bank?
Some banks send alerts when a temporary hold is placed on your account.
This is normal and can happen when you request a trip or shortly after.
How Can I Check What I Was Actually Charged?
You can view your receipt at any time in the “Your Trips” section of the Lobon app.
Each completed trip will show the final charge and the payment method used.
